Google has shipped Nano Banana 2, the long-awaited follow-up to its Gemini 2.5 Flash Image editor. The new release moves to the Gemini 3 Pro Image backbone and brings three major upgrades: native 4K Ultra output, a jump from 5 to 14 reference images per generation, and roughly 8x faster processing on the Pro plan compared with the free tier.
For users already on Nano Banana the upgrade path is straightforward — the existing prompt format and editing workflow stay the same. The most visible difference will be how cleanly the model preserves character identity across a series of edits when you feed it more reference shots. Pricing starts at $10.49/month for the Pro plan, with a Premium tier at $59.50/month aimed at teams and high-volume commercial users.
The free 20-credit trial remains intact and continues to be the most generous starter pack among the major image-editing models. Read our full review and side-by-side examples on the model page.
